This depends on the type of contractor you are.

Pharmacy contractor

Payments are always paid three months in arrears.

You'll receive an advance payment. The advance payment is based on figures declared on your end of month submission.

The advance payment will be paid approximately 20 days earlier than before.

Submission received after fifth of the month

When a submission is received after the fifth of the month, a separate timetable is available. This states the latest submission date for an advance payment to be guaranteed.

If a submission is received after this date, an advance will not be calculated.

Appliance Contractor

Payments are always paid two months in arrears.

You will not receive an advance payment.

Pharmacy and appliance contractor payment dates

You’ll receive payment on the first of the month unless it's a bank holiday or weekend. The payment date is then brought forward to the nearest previous working day.

The only exception to this is when 1 April falls on a weekend or bank holiday.

When this occurs, the payment is made on the next available working day. It's not brought forward to 31 March or earlier.

This is to meet the Department of Health and Social Care's requirement for a maximum of 12 payments to be made in any one financial year.

GP practice

GP practices are generally paid 3 months in arrears. Your Sub ICB Location (SICBL) are responsible for making payment.

You must contact your SICBL to discuss payment dates.
