When a GP leaves a practice their old pads should be securely destroyed so that they can no longer be used.

If they have accidently used a remaining old pad, this will still be processed. However, there is a risk that the prescribing cost will be allocated incorrectly, as the GP may be linked with a new practice.

If this is the case you should discuss this with your Sub ICB Location (SICBL).

If a prescriber has died we will keep their code on our system for 6 months after they die, so that if a prescription is dispensed within 6 months of their death, we can still process it and correctly allocate prescribing costs.
