Is there a limit for what quantity of a drug can be prescribed on a prescription?

There is a good practice requirement that Schedule 2, 3 or 4 CDs be limited to a quantity for 30 days treatment.

However, a prescriber may issue prescriptions for a longer period where they believe it to be justified, so a dispensing contractor will be reimbursed for any quantity dispensed on an FP10.

Non-controlled Drugs

This decision would be entirely up to the prescriber who may be limited by variables such as the drug they are prescribing, the patient's condition or local restrictions.
