If you've made a replacement dental appliance under Regulation 11 but this is no longer required you are able to claim for this.

To do this, you submit the claim as an incomplete Band 3 Course of Treatment (CoT), for which 12 UDA will be awarded. The 'Regulation 11' box should not be crossed on this claim.

If the patient has had an examination / case assessment prior to replacing the appliance, then submitting this claim as incomplete means Regulation 11 doesn't apply and that a Band 1 patient charge is due from non-exempt patients in respect of the examination.

If you've made a replacement orthodontic retainer but this is no longer required, the practice shouldn't charge the patient or submit a claim for this.
