A CoT is sometimes started by one clinician but completed by another.

An FP17 claim can only be made under one Personal ID and the activity can only be scheduled against one clinician.

The provider is responsible for deciding which clinician’s Personal ID to submit the claim under and how they would pay their 2 clinicians for the work carried out.

Submitting under the first clinician

If you choose to submit the claim under the clinician who started the CoT, as long as you have the correct PIN number for this clinician if submitting an EDI claim, Compass will match this against the Date of Acceptance (DoA) recorded on the claim and check the clinician was on the contract at that date.

If this is the case, NHS Dental Services will allow the claim to be processed.

Submitting under the second clinician

If you choose to submit the claim under the clinician who completed the CoT, as long as you have the correct PIN number for this clinician if submitting an EDI claim, Compass will match this against the Date of Completion (DoC) recorded on the claim and check the clinician was on the contract at that date.

If this is the case, NHS Dental Services will allow the claim to be processed.
