Does a full mouth examination need to be provided as part of a guaranteed claim?

If the treatment is provided as a Band 2 or Band 3 claim with a guaranteed item (free repair / replacement), an examination must be carried out and recorded in the clinical notes.

If, following the examination, no other treatment other than the repair / replacement of the guaranteed item is necessary, no patient charge applicable. If other treatment appropriate to Band 1, 2 or 3 is identified during the examination process (such as x-rays, scale and polish, a crown) then the patient must pay the appropriate band charge.
