Providers and performers who are members of the NHS Pension Scheme must confirm their estimate of net pensionable earnings (NPE) paid from 1 April to 31 March is correct.

This is done by completing the ARR in Compass.

You can view guidance on completing the ARR on our website.

Who completes the ARR

Opted out or retired within a financial year

You must still confirm your NPE for each contract you’ve worked on within that financial year.

Enter your NPE for the period up until you opted out or retired and enter your net pensionable earnings equivalent (NPEE) for the period you were not an NHS Pension Scheme member.

You do not need to enter your NPEE if you’re not a performer on your contract.

Salaried performers working on trust-based contracts

You do not need to complete the ARR as you’re not paid through NHS Dental Services.

If you've received an email asking you to complete an ARR declaration, you can ignore this as it's been sent in error.

If you have any queries about your pension contributions, contact your Commissioner.

Provider has died

The Commissioner must confirm the person responsible for the estate.

Timescales

The ARR is available from 1 April to 30 June each year.

You can update your NPE figures as many times as needed before 23:59pm on the 30 June.

We’ll carry out any adjustments needed and these will appear on the July schedules at the end of the month.

Your SD86C will be available on Compass from early August.

Figures

Providers must confirm the figures for each performer working on their contract using the ‘ARR Contract Selection’ screen.

You do not need to confirm a Foundation Dentist’s salaried earnings.

Once the provider has accepted the figures, an email is sent to the performer to login into their Compass account to accept or reject the figure.

If a performer rejects the figure, they must confirm why. This is sent to the provider to review.

The process will repeat until both the performer and provider accept the figure.

Changing figures

You cannot amend the ARR declaration once it’s been submitted.

You can amend your NPE or net pensionable earnings equivalent (NPEE) later in the year using Post ARR.
