This will depend on how long the extension period is for.

24 weeks or less

A new application form is not required, even if you have had more than one extension period and the total adds up to more than 24 weeks.

If you are completing an extension immediately after a period of withdrawal, a new application is required regardless of the extension period. This will be classed as a return to study rather than an extension, so a BUR101R form should be sent to us by your University.

More than 24 weeks

A new application will be required.

When making your extension application on BOSS, please ensure you select your course details in line with the cohort you are changing to.

If you are extending your course but are not changing to a recognised cohort because your university is tailoring an individual timetable for your extension, you will enter your original final year course details. These details can then be amended as necessary by a bursary processor when the BUR102 is received from your university.

All course extensions must be authorised by both your University and Health Education England (HEE).
