The General Allowance part of Disabled Students Allowances (DSAs) is awarded to cover consumable costs, such as audio tapes, Braille paper, extra photocopying and books, that have been recommended in your assessment of study needs.

If you are recommended books, you can only claim for non-core text books that you've purchased to help you with the course and are relating to your disability. They must not be core text books that all students are expected to read in order to complete their course.
