The GMP PPD code is used on GP computer systems.

The code is calculated using a formula. It's not allocated in the same way as prescriber codes.

Using the Doctors Index Number (DIN):

  1. Multiply the 1st and 4th digits by 1.
  2. Multiply the 2nd and 5th digits by 3.
  3. Multiply the 3rd and 6th digit by 7.

If the answer to any of the calculations is a double digit, use the last digit.

Once you have all six single figure digits, add them together. If a double or triple digit occurs, use the last digit.

You must add this digit to the end of the DIN and add a 'G' at the beginning.

This code would be the GMP PPD code.
