To claim a refund of NHS prescription charges, you must have collected an FP57 refund receipt from your pharmacy.

This must be collected at the time the charges were paid. An FP57 cannot be collected at a later date.

If your NHS prescription is being delivered, you must ask your pharmacy to provide the FP57 with your prescription items.

In exceptional circumstances, a refund can be claimed without an FP57. ‘The pharmacy did not tell me’ or ‘I did not realise I required one’ are not acceptable reasons.

If you believe you have exceptional circumstances, you must send proof of payment along with a covering letter.
