If you have a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) and have received a HC2, a medical exemption certificate, a maternity exemption certificate, or an NHS tax credit exemption certificate you may be able to claim a refund.
Refunds must be claimed within 3 months of:
- your maternity exemption certificate or medical exemption certificate being processed, or
- the date your HC2 certificate starts, or
- the date NHSBSA receive your details from HM Revenues and Customs (HMRC).
When you can claim a refund depends on the length of PPC you have, and when you received your certificate:
3 month PPC - If you receive a certificate in the first month of your PPC, you can claim a refund.
12 month PPC - If you receive a certificate before the final month of your PPC, you can claim a refund.
