Optical voucher values
Which voucher you're entitled to receive depends on how strong your lenses are. Your optician can tell you which voucher you're entitled to receive.
From 1 April 2025, the voucher values in Wales are:
Single vision
- Voucher 1 - £22.37
- Voucher 2 - £42.71
- Voucher 3 - £157.84
- Voucher 4 - £280.69
- Voucher 5 - £383.41
Bifocal and varifocal vouchers
- Voucher 6 - £40.68
- Voucher 7 - £78.31
- Voucher 8 - £304.08
- Voucher 9 - £393.58
- Voucher 10 - £539.01
Hospital eye service vouchers
- Voucher 11 - £539.01
- Voucher 12 - £57.97 per lens
Complex vouchers
Complex lens vouchers are awarded automatically by the optician to people who meet certain clinical criteria.
You must speak to your optician with any queries about this.

You can be prescribed either:
- one optical voucher for bifocals or varifocals
- 2 single optical vouchers to cover a pair of reading glasses and a pair of distance glasses
