If your circumstances change after your original application, you do not need to reapply. You can use your existing certificate until it expires.

The only exception to this is if you have a 5-year certificate but no longer meet the criteria for a 5-year certificate.

If your circumstances change within the first 12 months of the certificate, the certificate must be returned with a covering letter. A new 12-month certificate will be sent to you.

If your circumstances change after the first 12 months of the certificate, the certificate must be returned with a covering letter. A new HC1 application must be made.

If you have a HC3 and have a reduction in income or increase in outgoings, you can reapply to see if you now qualify for more help.

If partners named on an HC2 or HC3 have separated, they can continue to use the existing certificate. If they want a certificate in their own name only, they must reapply.
