To process an HC1 application form, we assess your weekly income and necessary expenses, plus any savings or investments you have at the time you apply.
The expenses we take into account include:
- Personal Allowance
- Council Tax
- housing costs
- premiums to take into account additional requirements
If the amount you have left is low, you may be able to get help through the NHS Low Income Scheme (LIS).
Any help you’re entitled to is also available to your partner, if you have one.
Each application is a stand alone assessment based on your circumstances at the time and is not related to any previous applications.
If you're eligible for help, your certificate will be valid from the date we receive the HC1 application form.
