You can get help towards one NHS-funded sight test every 2 years.

Help can also be given more frequently if you're:

  • under 16
  • aged 70 years or older
  • diagnosed as diabetic
  • a diagnosed glaucoma patient
  • aged 40 or over and are a parent, brother, sister, son or daughter of a diagnosed glaucoma patient or you have been advised by an ophthalmologist as being at risk of glaucoma

Your optician can authorise an NHS-funded sight test more than once every 2 years if they deem it clinically necessary. You must discuss this directly with your optician.
