We’ll pay your NHS Pension or monthly allowance on the same date each month.

We’ll tell you what your payment date is once your award is processed.

When the payment date falls on a weekend or an English or a Welsh public holiday, the payment will go into your account on the last working day before.

We’ll only write to you when your pension begins and each time there’s a change in your tax code or yearly rate.

If you receive a weekly wage from your employer when you retire, you can request to have your pension paid weekly. This only applies to people living in the UK. It does not include pension credit members.

To request your pension to be paid weekly, you must attach a covering letter when you apply for your pension benefits. If your pension is paid weekly, we’ll send you an advice slip every 12 weeks showing details of the payments for the next 12 weeks.

We cannot pay your annual pension in a lump sum each year.
