If you're an officer member in the 1995 or 2008 Section, your pension is based on your length of membership and:

  • total pensionable pay (TPP) for the 1995 Section
  • reckonable pay for the 2008 Section

Reducing your hours will affect your length of membership you'll build up as this will be reduced to take into consideration the hours you worked.

This will not affect membership you've already built up.

Reducing your hours in the 1995 or 2008 Section will not affect the pay figure we use to work out your pension as we use the whole-time equivalent pay.

If you're a Practitioner in the 1995 or 2008 Section, your pension is based on your career earnings so reducing your hours will reduce these earnings.

2015 Scheme

Reducing your hours will reduce the pension you accrue each year compared to what you were accruing when working more hours.

This is because the pension you earn each year is based on actual pensionable pay.
