If you change your mind about the amount of lump sum or percentage that you’ve asked for on your application, you may be able to change this.

You must write to us before the date of your first pension payment or within one month of receiving the retirement notice confirming:

  • the amount of lump sum or percentage you want to take from each Section or Scheme you’re claiming benefits from
  • you agree any overpaid pension will be recovered from the lump sum if you’re increasing your lump sum
  • you agree to return any overpaid lump sum if you’re increasing your pension and choose to receive normal pension benefits

If you could not access your retirement notice within this one-month period, you must write to us explaining why. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

You can write a letter or send an email with these details.
