There would be a one-off payment made to the member’s surviving partner, nominee, or their estate if the member dies less than 12 months after leaving the Scheme with:

  • less than 2 years' service overall
  • no refund of contributions
  • no transfer out

This is equivalent to:

  • 3 times the yearly rate of the member's pension in the 1995 Scheme
  • 2.25 times annual pension for member's in the 2008 Scheme
  • 2.025 times annual pension for member's in the 2015 Scheme

Dependant Claim Form (DCF) must be completed by the person making the claim for the death benefits of a deferred member.

This is equivalent to a refund of the member's contributions minus any appropriate deductions, such as income tax.

A claim for a refund of contributions form (AW12/2) form must be completed by the member's Personal Representative to claim a refund of contributions. This can be requested by contacting us.
