People of Northern Ireland who are Irish citizens living in the UK will not usually be eligible for a UK EHIC.
This is because they’re unlikely to have exercised their free movement rights because they did not rely on their EU citizenship to be resident in the UK.
If you’re resident in the UK, you may be eligible for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (UK GHIC).
Apply for a new UK GHIC or UK EHIC.
If you live in Ireland and believe you’re eligible for a UK EHIC, you cannot currently apply online and must contact us using our online webform to make your application.
