You can add a partner and any children, also called ‘dependants’, to your application.

Once you've submitted your application, you'll receive an automated email confirming your application has been successful.

Applying for a partner

Your partner must live with you at the same address to include them as a dependant on your application.

They must have a valid National Insurance (NI) number to apply for a UK GHIC online.

If your partner does not have a valid NI number, send the details of your application to our helpdesk using our online form.

Applying for a child

Children must be under age 18 at the time of the application and live with you.

You can use the online portal to apply for a dependant UK GHIC for your foster child.

Adding a dependant

To add a dependant to your existing UK GHIC application, send the details to our helpdesk and include your dependants:

  • full name
  • date of birth
  • UK address
  • moving date of when they moved to that address
  • nationality
  • relationship to you
  • NI number, if applicable

Their entitlement will expire on the same day as the main applicant.
