Adoption Leave entitles the only or main adopter to up to 52 weeks adoption leave regardless of your length of service.

There are three application forms that you can complete, depending on your length of service:

  • A1A – employees will have one years continuous service
  • A1B – employees will have 26 weeks continuous service
  • A1C – employees have under 26 weeks service    

To enable your Adoption leave to be processed and ensure you are paid correctly, your Line Manager needs to upload your adoption application form, which can be found on the Hub, and a copy of your matching certification from your adoption agency to the Document Transfer Service (DTS).

Once the information is received via DTS, the HR Shared Services (HRSS) Electronic Staff Record (ESR) team have 20 working days to process your adoption application.  They will send a letter confirming your adoption dates and entitlements.

We will then send all the adoption paperwork, along with the letter, to Payroll.

The HRSS ESR will input the adoption absence into ESR, the month your adoption leave is due to commence.
