Shared Parental Leave (SPL) enables parents to choose how to share the care of their child during the first year of birth or adoption.  

To enable your Shared Parental leave to be processed and ensure you are paid correctly, your Line Manager needs to upload your SPL application form, which can be found on the Hub, and a copy of your MATB1/Adoption certification to the Document Transfer Service (DTS).

Once the information is received via DTS, the HR Shared Services (HRSS) Electronic Staff Record (ESR) team have 20 working days to process your Shared Parental application.  They will send a letter confirming your SPL dates and entitlements.

We will then send all the SPL paperwork along with the letter to Payroll.

The HRSS ESR will input the SPL absence into ESR, the month your SPL leave is due to commence.

If you require your SPL payments to be equally paid over a longer period, please state this in your application or contact the Payroll team directly to arrange this.
