A HPAN check is the process of notifying NHS bodies, or other organisations providing services to NHS bodies, about registered Health Professionals whose performance or conduct could pose a significant risk of harm to:

  • patients
  • staff
  • the public

Not all roles require a HPAN check. The employer will check for any current alert notices if this is required.
