If you're affected by the Public Service Pensions Remedy, the first stage of the remedy is rollback.
From 1 October 2023, if you were a member with either no protection or tapered protection, any affected membership you had in the remedy period, 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2022, will be placed into your legacy scheme. This is called rollback.
The legacy scheme is the 1995 or 2008 Scheme.
Your service for the remedy period will be rolled back automatically and will remain in your legacy scheme. You'll make a choice about the benefits you want to receive for this period. You do not need to do anything until we contact you.
Only some members will be affected by rollback.
If you retired before 1 October 2023, your service for the remedy period will not be rolled back. We’ll write to you and ask you to make your choice retrospectively. If needed, we’ll backdate all payments to your date of retirement.
We're contacting eligible members in phases starting with members who retired on ill health grounds.
If you're retiring, we'll contact you and ask you to make your choice later. We’ll provide you with information at the time to help you make your decision.

If you’re affected by annual allowance (AA), read information about understanding the effect of rollback on AA.
