Funding may be available to you from the second year of your course. This depends if you’ve been allocated a capped place or not.

Not allocated a capped place

You may be eligible for the Placement Travel Allowance (PTA) only.

The non income assessed PTA full time rates, which cover a 52 week period, are £862.50.

If you're eligible for the Basic Bursary, your PTA entitlement is already included within the Basic Bursary amount. You will not get an additional award.

Part time students

The PTA rate for a part time student will be a pro rata amount of the full time rate based on the length of your course.

Allocated a capped bursary place

You may be eligible for a basic bursary.

This non income assessed award is to support you with your general living expenses. It will automatically include an amount for the Placement Travel Allowance (PTA).

If you meet all eligibility criteria and are allocated a capped bursary place, you’ll receive:

  • £4,862.50 if you attend a university outside of London
  • £5,262.50 if you attend a university inside of London

This covers a 52 week period.

Part time students will receive a pro rata amount based on the length of your course.

This is the maximum support available.

Undergraduate course students do not receive additional allowances for:

  • dependants
  • tuition fees
  • disability allowances
