You can apply for your bursary as soon as your course and cohort details are available in your MyFunding account.

Undergraduate students can only apply for the bursary from course year 2.

Postgraduates students can apply from the beginning of the course. You can apply if an offer of a place has not been received. No bursary will be paid if you do not start the course.

If you're offered a place at more than one university there is further guidance here.

Each cohort has an application deadline which is made available nearer to the start of the cohort.

These deadline dates apply to all available elements of the bursary, except Childcare Allowance (CCA) and Disabled Students Allowances (DSAs). These elements can be applied for at any point within the academic year, as long you've already applied for your bursary in time.

CCA applications can be considered after the deadline if you applied for Parent's Learning Allowance (PLA) for your child before the deadline.

You can add a first child or newly dependant adult to your current academic year award. You must have already applied for the maintenance grant before the deadline and your change must have happened after the deadline.

No other exceptions can be considered if we receive a late application.
