When completing your application, you’ll be asked to give an email address for your spouse, partner, or civil partner. They’ll be sent a link to complete their section of the application which will be valid for 72 hours.

Your spouse, partner, or civil partner must upload evidence of any allowable expenses they've paid if you're applying for the maintenance grant.

The application form details what evidence can be accepted as the application is completed.

Acceptable documents

Employee pension contributions

We’ll accept a March or month 12 payslip which shows the end of year total earnings and deductions. 

Private pension contributions

We’ll accept an end of tax year pension statement which shows the total pension contributions paid for the whole of the tax year. 

Additional voluntary pension contributions

We’ll accept an end of tax year pension statement which shows the total pension contributions paid for the whole of the tax year. 

Other expenses connected to employment (if allowed for tax purposes)

We’ll accept a ‘P2 (new)’ or ‘P11D’. This form is issued by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to someone who has allowable tax relievable income or expenses.
