If you’re eligible for Healthy Start, you can collect free vitamins including:

  • children’s drops
  • women’s tablets

Healthy Start vitamins come as an 8-week supply of:

  • 280 drops for children with a daily dose of 5 drops
  • 56 tablets for women with a daily dose of 1 tablet

Healthy Start vitamins must be stored in a cool dry place.

They must not be stored above 25°C as this may reduce the vitamin levels.

Shelf life

The shelf life of Healthy Start vitamins are:

  • 15 months from the date of manufacture for children’s drops
  • 24 months from the date of manufacture for women’s tablets

Each bottle expires at the end of the month given as the expiry date.

Children’s vitamin drops

Children’s vitamin drops can be given to children from birth until their fourth birthday.

Children who have 500ml or more of formula a day, do not need to take children’s vitamin drops.

If you want to give children’s vitamin drops to children over the age of 4 or give more than the recommended daily dose of 5 drops, you must get advice from a healthcare professional.

The daily dose of 5 drops contains:

  • 233 micrograms of vitamin A
  • 20 milligrams of vitamin C
  • 10 micrograms of vitamin D3

Dietary requirements

All the ingredients used are produced in line with medicines Good Manufacturing Practice standards UK to prevent contamination with:

  • soya
  • gluten
  • dairy products

Healthy Start vitamins do not contain any:

  • colours
  • flavours
  • preservatives

They’re not sugar free.

Healthy Start children’s drops and women’s tablets are suitable for vegetarians and have been approved by the ‘Vegetarian Society’.

They contain lanolin which is sourced from living sheep’s wool so may not be suitable for vegans.

Healthy Start vitamins are certified by the Halal Monitoring Committee. They’re not kosher.
