Unscheduled Care is to provide patients with any immediately necessary treatment to address severe pain or prevent significant deterioration in oral health.
For the purposes of General Dental Services (GDS) contracts and Personal Dental Services (PDS) agreements, 'Unscheduled Care' means one or more of the treatments listed in Schedule 4 of the National Health Service (Dental Charges) Regulations 2005 are provided to a patient where:
- prompt care and treatment are provided because in the opinion of the dental practitioner, the person's oral health is likely to deteriorate significantly or the person is in severe pain by reason of his or her oral condition
- care and treatment are provided only to the extent necessary to prevent deterioration in oral health or address severe pain
If these conditions apply, one or more of the treatments listed in Schedule 4 of the Regulations may be provided.
Unscheduled Care attracts a payment of £75 which will automatically be converted into Units of Dental Activity (UDA).
You'll receive:
- £15 converted into UDA for each appointment you've agreed with your {@Dental_Commissioner@}
- the remaining £60 once the claim is submitted
If a patient fails to attend, you will not have a claim to submit but you'll still receive the £15 converted into UDA if you've agreed a target with your {@Dental_Commissioner@}. This can be viewed in Compass under 'Services'.
The activity figure is the amount of appointment slots agreed with your {@Dental_Commissioner@}.
The £15 converted into UDA will be shown a month in arrears in activity actuals.
The UDA value is calculated using the service line information your {@Dental_Commissioner@} enters on Compass.
