If a patient dies before a CoT is completed and they’ve not paid enough to cover the cost of the NHS treatment they received, you'll need to decide at practice level whether you pursue the remaining balance owed.

If the patient paid more than the cost of the NHS treatment completed, the practice should reimburse the patient's family the difference between the applicable charge band and the amount paid.
