TDAE provides help towards excess travel and accommodation costs incurred while attending a placement as part of your course.
You can claim TDAE for a ‘Simulated’ practice placement, if your travel costs meet the usual TDAE eligibility criteria.
You must have had your Training Grant application approved to claim TDAE.
Apply for TDAE
Apply for a new TDAE claim from your NHS LSF account by:
- Selecting your current 'Academic Year'.
- Select the TDAE tab.
- Select Make a Claim.
Once submitted, your university will check your claim is accurate and in accordance with the rules before authorising it.
If they need to make any changes to the amounts claimed, they'll return the claim to you on your NHS LSF account.
Once approved by your university, they must submit your claim to us for payment.
All claims must be received no later than 6 months after the last date of your claim.
A guide to completing your TDAE claim is available on our website.
Mistake made on TDAE claim
If you’ve made a mistake on your TDAE claim and do not want to continue with it or are not able to change it, you can either:
- delete - this deletes your claim completely before submitting it to your university
- cancel - this cancels your claim after it's been submitted to your university
If you still want to continue with the claim, you must start again.
If you’ve submitted a claim to your university and want to amend or cancel it, ask them to send it back to you through their university portal.
