A repair of a denture is when an existing part of a denture is broken and replaced or repaired such as a:
- clasp
- tooth
- flange
There is no time restriction to how long after the original appliance was made for a repair to be provided.
If the denture has only been provided recently, a further claim would not be considered appropriate as the alteration would be considered to be part of the original treatment.
Claiming a repair of a denture
Follow the guidance for:
No open CoT
From 23 June 2026, 2 Units of Dental Activity (UDA) will be awarded for a denture repair. This will remain free of charge to the patient irrespective of their charge paying status. This can be claimed through the submission of a charge exempt treatment claim if it is the only treatment item being provided.
Open Band 2 CoT
If a denture modification is provided during other Band 2 treatment, a maximum of 2 UDA can be claimed. This is in addition to the UDAs for the Band 2 CoT.
The patient charge is a single Band 2 charge.
Open Band 3 CoT
No additional UDAs can be claimed. The denture repair would be expected to be claimed as part of this CoT.
During Complex Care Pathway
If a denture modification is provided during, or within 3 months of the completion of a Complex Care Pathway, a maximum of 2 UDAs can be claimed in addition to the UDAs credited for the Complex Care Pathway.
The patient charge is a Band 2. It will be a Band 3 charge if a Band 3 treatment item is also provided.
