Read information about eligibility and the funding available for all groups of students on our website.

You must select the option most relevant to you.

We cannot give any guidance about your eligibility for funding until you've applied for an NHS Bursary.

Your eligibility to be accepted onto an NHS commissioned course is determined by the higher education provider. Any queries about the acceptance criteria must be directed to your university.

If you're eligible, read how to apply for an NHS Bursary.

Secondments

If you're being seconded, you're undertaking a course whilst remaining an employee. You'll be in receipt of a salary from your employer.

The employer is responsible for paying all course and examination fees.

You're not entitled to receive any NHS Bursary funding including any of the additional allowances.

If you've already applied for your NHS Bursary, contact our helpdesk on 0300 330 1345. We'll arrange for your application to be rejected and any payments stopped.

Sponsors

If your total yearly income from sponsorship and employment minus any allowable expenses is less than the maximum bursary including the tuition fee amount, a bursary may be payable.

You must give details of your sponsorship on your application and provide evidence if requested.

We cannot confirm if you’re eligible for support until your application and full supporting evidence has been assessed.

If your total income is more than the total allowances plus tuition fee contribution, no NHS Bursary support including tuition fees if you’re a medical or dental student will be available.
