Your ABS provides you with details of your pension benefits.

You can access this in your Total Reward Statement (TRS) on Electronic Staff Record (ESR).

If your organisation does not use ESR and you’re a member of the NHS Pension Scheme, you’ll receive an ABS instead of a TRS.

Bank workers and zero-hour contracts

If you’re a bank worker or on a zero-hour contract, you’ll receive an ABS if you’re a member of the NHS Pension Scheme.

Not received an ABS

You’ll not receive an ABS if:

  • you’ve opted out of the scheme with less than 2 years qualifying membership
  • your personal details held by NHS Pensions do not match your employer.

You’ll not receive an ABS if you’re receiving your NHS Pension and no longer contribute to the scheme. This includes if you have membership in multiple schemes and have already claimed pension benefits from one scheme.

If none of these reasons apply to you, contact your NHS employer who can provide an estimate of your NHS Pension benefits.
